Tuesday's Post

Hi Class,

Tomorrow we will take time to prepare some assignments to turn in so I can give you a more complete progress report which is due this Friday. The assignments will be chosen at random (not to include assignments due at the end of the unit--like vocab and lecture note questions for example) such as FRQ's, in class data questions, and etc. You would do well to complete any assignments not finished in class or as homework for tomorrow's call-up.

If you are looking for something to write about in the blog, there is one current event that's been around for awhile that has been quite controversial. It involves an American citizen living in Yemen who is a radical Muslim who tied to some contacts with other "terrorists" including the Muslim Dr. who killed several Americans at Fort Hood last year and the Christmas "bomber" on an American airline, his plot foiled at the last minute when his explosives failed to detonate. The Obama Administration has targeted him for assassination (presumably by way of a drone attack). The American Civil Liberties Union has brought this "death warrant" to court saying that the Administration is breaking constitutional law by targeting an American citizen, effectively denying him the right to "due process" before punishment (death). What do you think? Would you change your opinion if you knew for a fact that this man had definitively been involved in terrorist attacks on the United States.

See you tomorrow!

If your an Aerican citizen, there is no requirement that says you HAVE to love your country. I believe that this man should be punished for being affiliated with terrorists we are currently at war with. I really don't think there should really be any discussion on the topic kowning that this man, an AMERICAN CITIZEN, is trying to terrorize his, and our own counrty.

  2. I think that it does not matter wether you are an American citizen or not. The only thing that matters is if your guilty. If the man is associated with terrorists then he should be punished for trying to hurt others.

I would be against this if the accusations were just speculations. But since that it is a fact that he is a terrorist and has actually attempted an attack on the US, he should be targeted. Obviously he is an American citizen and law prohibits this but this man obviously shows that he is careless and would not hesitate to terrorize his own country. Therefore the government should aim to protect the homeland and secure all the people in America.

  4. I Enrique Montano believe that nobody should try to defend this terrorist if there's evidence that he has been involved in terrorism. Why would you want to freak out American Citizens when America has been the country that has given you everything you have!
