1. My name is Thomas Ramirez and I am in the second period AP US Government class.
ReplyDelete2. I signed up for the class for three reasons: it looks good, it should keep me occupied, and it should allow me to save money in the future.
3. Once the class is done with, I hope to walk away with a deeper understanding of how it is that the government works. This should allow me not only to be a “conscious consumer,” if you will, of the government and its mechanics, but also give me peace of mind when I have to make decisions.
4. I think one of the biggest issues in the government today is the subjectivity of the educational system. We spend all of our young life jumping through hoops to satisfy the system and I don’t feel that leaves enough space for us to actually enjoy our learning.

Instead of joining forces to create better country different ethnic groups argue amongst each other, refusing to help out each other out, which minimize equity among races when it comes to education.

4) One of the biggest issues the government is facing today is the huge debt our nation is in. The budget deficit has been increasing drastically over the years. Every time the nation is asked to pay the appropriations asked, the nation has to borrow more money which causes taxes to be increased.

3. I want to be able to sit down in some sort of café and be able to hold a philosophical and intellectual conversation about government and politics with friends. It has always been a dream of mine.
4. The government is definitely facing an endless amount of issues, but the one that I am constantly reminded of is the national debt. So apparently the U.S. debt is over $14.5 trillion, and is the sum of all debt owed by the Federal Government.

ReplyDelete2. Dude, I don’t even want to be in this class. Just kidding. I signed up for APGOPO because over the summer, while at Boy’s State and while in Assemblymember's Luis Alejo’s Young Assemblymembers Program, I was exposed to politics. Not only did I discover that politics can be quite entertaining I also found out that every single action we make is politics, Politics is everything.
3. By the end of the year I hope to have amounted enough useful knowledge about the way our government functions and politics so that I will make wise decisions once I’m old enough to vote.
4. Why did we just raise the debt ceiling? I don’t get it. It’s only logical that by increasing the amount of money the government can borrow, the government will do just that, borrow even more money. We don’t need that. We’re already 14.5 trillion dollars in debt. Borrowing even more money isn’t helping our debt crisis.

I decided to take this course because not only do I believe it is a challenging class, but also because I am very interested in the government’s tactics to-well- govern the society in which we choose to live in. As opposed to many students, looking good on my transcript is not my priority, but to really learn what, how, why, when, and WHO rules this country is my priority.
3. I am sure that by the end of the year I will have a solid and clear understanding of this “great” system we call our government, and more importantly I will have the answers to my previous questions. And of course, pass the AP test.
4. The government of this country is currently facing many challenges, from my point of view the most important issue is that of spending more money on weaponry, troops, and other war-related aspects instead of education. Also, the expansion of horrible, greedy American corporations, both in our country and in others.

I signed for APGOPO because being part of Luis Alejo's Young Assemblymember Program, I was exposed to the world of politics and learned how much power and the ability to dramatically change society to a new phase really interested me, and would like to gain more information on how the system works.
