Class,
So, tomorrow we will have a review for our unit two test. This review will cover the multiple choice questions on the test. On Monday we will have a FRQ/finish up assignment day in preparation for Tuesday's test. By the way, the next FRQ related to campaign finance can be found here: http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/apc/members/repository/govpol_us_00.pdf
If you search around you will also find the answer key and a "model" student responses. These resources may be useful if you find yourself "stuck."
A couple of possible blog topics include your responses related to the situation at Hartnell: How would you respond to "Pancho Villa's" statements about (1) high numbers of Latinos who attend Hartnell College (2) that Mexican-Americans salute both flags (US and Mexican) and that Arizona's anti-immigrant laws should be adopted in Salinas...
If you want something else to write about, how about the situation regarding the Protestant pastor with plans to burn the Koran on September 11th? Does he have the right to do this? Should he do this? What should the US government (if anything)do to "persuade" this gentleman to cease and desist on his idea. Do you think American lives are potentially at stake over this matter?
See you tomorrow!

ReplyDeleteHearing the "name" Pancho Villa now puts me in a mad mood. I am so down to go to Hartnell's nxt meeting thing! That man didn't have to change his name to make a point. If he wanted to talk about how immigrants change their name & things, he didnt necessarily have to make fun of them in that way. He shouldn't even care about the high numbers of Latinos attending Hartnell. What does he expect? Does he really expect the rich Americans to send their kids to a public college?! Of course not! Grrr. I hate him. If it wasn't Latinos attending Hartnell, then who would? Haha this guy :)

ReplyDeleteI'm not a person who is easily angered but this "Pancho Villa" guy sure ticked me off. With the slowly recovering economy it seems that more people are quicker to point fingers and place the blame on others.
So there's a lot of Hispanics in Hartnell, big whoop. How does ethnicity even pop up into a board meeting, since when was it socially accepted to be racist.
Mexican -Americans saluting to both flags is a given, hello people in the U.S. are a mix of varying ethnicities and such , of course they'd support their backgrounds.
The whole Arizona anti-immigration mumbo jumbo could be seen as a temporary solution to the increasing number of Hispanics in the U.S. but it'll only make things worse because they make up most of the labor force and by completely removing these "aliens" it'll only hurt the economy more and blame placing will only increase. And to have it placed in Salinas (which is quite frankly dumb) is just a very out there thought that won't be made into reality.Might as well take Salinas off the map.

ReplyDeleteIf you burn someone's "Bible" you better be prepared to get burned yourself. I don't think this Protestant pastor is really thinking about the possible consequences that'd follow a symbolic burning of the Koran. The government can't really do much because it could be argued that they are infringing on one's freedom of speech. But freedom of speech is one thing but to completely paint on a big red target sign on you is your bad and no right can really protect you from some very pissed off people. American lives are potentially in danger, if they participate in this burning, come on your dealing with people that are, as it is, pissed off at Americans in general. Don't temp a lion, you will lose an arm.

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the way we reviewed for the test because not only were we learning something but it was also competitive and fun, what a great way to review by even adding extra credit points to the winning team
